Frequently Asked Questions.
What is climate control and do I need it?
Climate control definitions can vary, so be sure to ask who you rent from what they call climate control. Sometimes it is strictly heated, sometimes it includes air conditioning.
At Dino’s, we heat, cool and also run dehumidifiers where necessary to keep the humidity at levels that won’t promote mold growth. While we cannot guarantee the temperature or humidity level, we do our best to maintain them so your items remain in the condition in which you left them.
Can I access my unit any time of day?
You can access to your unit anytime between 6a.m.-10p.m. everyday and outside XL units can be accessed 24 hours. Fees may apply depending on the hour of access.
Please check with your location for more details.
How do I best utilize the space I'm paying for?
Most customers over-estimate the amount of space they need. If you pack your items well, you can save space, therefore saving time and money. Use the same size boxes, label them specifically (itemized) and try to box most of your items. Items that aren’t boxed will be awkward and hard to stack.
Storing shelves or bookcases? Use them to hold those unboxed, odd-ball shaped items. Storing a dresser? Keep the clothes folded in the drawers and put the screws and bolts from the unassembled furniture in a baggy inside. Don’t forget to label the baggy!
Is the lease month-to-month?
All of our leases are month to month.
Do I get a discount if I rent more than one unit?
That depends on the location and the availability of the sizes you choose. But please ask!
Are there discounts for military or senior citizens?
Discounts vary by location and depend on availability.
Our most commonly used discounts are military, first responders, and hospital doctors and nurses.
Why should I buy a mattress or sofa cover?
Even in a climate control unit dust can accumulate. Mold particles can spread through the air. Bugs and little creatures can make their way inside a building and into your unit. Mattresses and couches are expensive to replace. Spend the extra few dollars to save yourself hundreds!
What is "Dino's Storage Protection Plan"?
Dino’s Storage Protection Plan provides tenants with coverage of up to $1,000 of damages with $8.45/month. Tenants can also opt in to receive higher coverage of $2,500, $5,000, or $10,000 for more valuable items. Exclusions do apply – please check with the manager for more details.
What kind of lock should I buy? Can I just bring one from home?
For the safety of your belongings,we require all tenants to use a disk lock to secure the storage unit. You can bring one from home or purchase one at our locations at a discounted rate. We no longer allow pad locks and appreciate your understanding.
How do I pay?
Every tenants are required to set up an automatic withdrawal from your checking or savings account to recurr on a monthly basis. This can be done when signing your lease or set up online.
You can also pay with your debit/credit card online from your computer or smart phone.
You can send money orders and checks to PO Box 31310, Omaha, NE, 68131.
Our locations no longer accept money orders, cash, debit or credit cards.
What do I do when I'm done renting?
We require a online notice submitted from our website10 days prior to the next rental month, not prior to your move out date. For example, if you will be moving out on November 28, you should give written notice by November 20 because that is 10 days before the next rental period. When you have vacated all your items, sweep the floor, remove your lock, let the manager know you are completely done and remind them to cancel your auto-pay if you have one set up.
I have some things I don't want to take with me. Can I leave them or put them in your dumpster?
Dino’s Storage locations now have dumpsters on site that can be used for a fee.
However, we have the right to refuse anything unreasonable placed in the dumpsters.
If I move out before the end of the month, do I get a refund for those unused days?
No. Our leases are, at minimum, monthly, not daily. Once you have paid for a month, the space is yours to use for that rental period. If you choose to vacate prior to the end of the month, you forfeit the remaining days. Partial refunds or over-payments will not be issued.
If the following rental period is paid in its entirety and ten day written notice was given, a refund will be issued. You must request this refund within five days of vacating your space.
Dino’s Self Storage Tips.
Inform yourself on these self-storage tips.
Learning how to store your items better, safer and tighter can help you make the most of your storage experience.
Don’t make mistakes that will end up costing you in the end.
- Take apart anything that can be, so it will take up less room. Make sure to tape all nuts, bolts and screws to the furniture so they are not lost.
- Use any shelving to your advantage.
- Anything with drawers can be used to store smaller items.
- Newspapers, towels or old clothes work great for wrapping breakable items.
- Place a dustcover on the ground of your unit for added protection. We sell dust covers on site that perfectly fit a 10×10 unit!
- Always start at the back of the unit with bigger items and then fill in spaces with smaller things.
- Stack kitchen chairs on top of each other.
- Use storage boxes instead of plastic bags. Boxes provide an easier walking path inside a unit, and plastic bags can promote mildew.
- Label ALL boxes with contents or “FRAGILE” to prevent damage and make sure they are sealed.
- Distribute heavy items in several boxes to make lifting easier and to avoid injury.
- When stacking boxes or storage containers, place heavier things on the bottom and lighter things on top.
- Defrost freezers to prevent water damage inside and be sure to take everything out.
- Remove wheels from furniture, this will help with stacking among other objects.
- Couches or love seats can be stored vertically to give you more room. Place something under the end to prevent damage.
- Use a cart or dolly to move heavy things.
