Dino’s In The Community — Making Strides

On May 4th I participated in the 2013 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Des Moines, IA.  Our goal for the walk was to raise awareness as well as collect donations to benefit breast cancer research and to support all of the survivors as well as all of the woman who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The American Cancer Society has helped more than 4 million woman get breast cancer screening tests and there are over 2 ½ million survivors.  I had the honor of being on the team of Miss Stasey, who is a breast cancer survivor.  This particular event was very cold and rainy but that did not stop the dedicated participants from walking to support Making Strides.  I wanted to do something special during the walk so I hand wrapped 110 flower suckers to hand out and remind people to smile.  We were able to raise over $20,000 at this event alone!!  I would like to give a very big thank you to Dave Paladino, the owner of Dino’s Storage, for his generous donation of $110 to support my fund raising goal.

Cancer of all forms has affected many lives.  You may be a survivor or know someone who has cancer.  Fact is that cancer is affecting more and more people and we need to do our part to schedule check-ups, maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly to help beat the odds.  I personally know many people that have passed from cancer, a few that are currently going through treatments and thankfully those, like my father, that are in remission.

If you would like more information about breast cancer, visit cancer.org/fightbreastcancer or contact the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 anytime.

Jose Beltran Most Positive

Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

Lots of negative people have worked here, but they just need lots of encouraging talk to help deal with life. Jose Beltran is from Latin America. He has a suave accent, likes good looking cars, is VERY well dressed (probably doesn’t own a t shirt), and has dark hair. Everyone loved him and he loved everyone. Jose would always give people hugs and encouraged them. He was just a very positive person.

Hal Daub’s Best You

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

Hal was the Mayor once and Congressman twice. He made more of an impact in Omaha than anyone else has. Some of his projects include: West Dodge Expressway, Quest Center, TDAmeritrade Center, Heartland of America Park, and Rick’s Boathouse.

Cindy Paladino’s Servant Heart

1 Peter 4:10 ” Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful service stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
Cindy Paladino really cared for others and wanted to please them. She did not care about her finances or comfort level as long as others were happy. Cindy and her husband, Kevin Paladino, founded three churches and they own the Complete music franchise in Austin.
