Another year behind us here at Omaha’s Dino’s Storage!

This will be my last blog for 2013. It has been a very good year in the Downtown Omaha area. All of the beautiful Downtown Christmas lights are up and lit, and it is dark enough to enjoy them everyday as I leave work. It really is a beautiful and wonderful time of year.

We can all be very blessed that we have already dodged 2 major snow and ice storms, but we know that won’t be the case all winter. Even if we had gotten them, some of our best memories are being snowed in around the holidays.  Giving us chance to spend unscheduled extra time with family and friends.

If we do nothing else this season, let’s take the time to reflect, be thankful, and for those of us who can, be generous! The holidays are about giving. I do not necessarily mean buying gifts, but giving yourself….your kindness, your thoughts, your love, what makes you what you are. It will make just as much of a difference for yourself as it will for everyone you touch by it!!!!

To sum it up, take the time to enjoy the end of 2013……..live, love, and be happy………..enjoy your family, friends, strangers, your job, your pets, etc! It is all of those things that shape us into who and what we are. I will do this, and come back refreshed for 2014!!

Thank you all for taking the time to read my blogs, patronize my store, call me about the quotes and read the post weekly on my reader boards……….and for those of you who haven’t, see you in 2014!

Each day a sweet surprise.
Mix in fond appreciation,
For the people whom we know.
Like festive Holiday candles,
Each one has a special glow.
Add some giggles and some laughter,
A dash of Holiday food.
Amazing how a piece of pie,
Improves our attitude!
Stir it all with human kindness,
Wrap it up in love and peace.
Decorate with optimism, and
Our joy will never cease.
If we use this healthy recipe,
We know we will remember.
To be in the Holiday spirit,
Even when it’s not December.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE…FROM THE DINO’S FAMILY!

Reflections of Customer Appreciation

As we decorate our abodes to bring warmth and cheer through the winter that is here, we should all take time to reflect before the New Year.  Nearly half of the people that come into my office are in a transitional period in their lives.  I feel blessed to be able to help my wonderful customers with not only their storage needs but more often then not, I have been a shoulder to cry on and an ear when they need someone to listen or if they are just so excited about an event in their life and want to share what they are going through.

tree

My customers are very important to me and I would like to share a small token of my appreciation with all of you!  I have placed my business cards all over the tree that I have decorated in my office and each card has a number on the back of it.  Anyone who rents a unit in December will be able to choose a card from the tree for a chance at one of the following gifts:  padlock, disk lock, administrative fee waived or a surprise gift! And any current customer that has a non-delinquent account on December 31, 2013 will be automatically be entered to receive 1 of 6 rent credits ranging from $5 to $30!

I would like to leave you with one final thought as I had a friend share these 7 Cardinal Rules of Life with me and I would like to share them with you:

1)      Make peace with your past, so it will not disturb your present.
2)      What other people think of you is none of your business.
3)      Time heals almost everything.  Give it time.
4)      No one is in charge of your happiness.  Except you.
5)      Do not compare your life to others and do not judge them, you have no idea what their journey is all about.
6)      Stop thinking too much.  It’s alright not to know the answers.  They will come to you when you least expect it.
7)      Smile.  You do not own all of the problems in the world.

As I sat here and read this, I did reflect on how these ideas apply to my own life but I also thought about all of the stories that my customers have shared with me over the years and how each of their journeys correlated with at least once of these rules.  Perhaps as you sit here and read this, one of the rules stands out for you as well.  I think that it is important for all of us to reflect and remember that we are all dealing with some bit of a struggle in our lives but it is those challenges that make us stronger as a person.  Please carry these rules or ideas with you on a daily basis, find peace within yourself, be kind to your neighbor and always smile and have fun!!

Those that pray together stay together!

Dino’s Storage owner, Dave Paladino has started something that will keep the company’s values and beliefs going strong. Every Wednesday at 6am at the office we are going to sit down and pray together. It will be about 15 minutes. Prayer requests are welcome and we will pray for each other.

Another Example How Dino’s In Des Moines Cares About It’s Community

It is no secret to most people that HUNGER is a real problem here in America. Here in Iowa we have a Child Food Insecurity Rate of 19.5% and an overall Poverty Rate of 11.6%. Dino’s in Des Moines on SE 14th has teamed up with The Food Bank of Iowa to help in this matter. The Food Bank of Iowa delivers food to 55 of the most desperate counties in Iowa. Last year they received 7,673,765 lbs. of food from donations! All though this is remarkable news, it still does not cover what is needed to feed everyone in need ALL year around. I have set up a bin in my facility to collect donations for the month of November and December, anyone can donate. However, I have set up a SPECIAL for the months of November and December for anyone signing a new lease with us here at Dino’s on SE 14th. We will take off the $10 application fee if you bring in 2 non-perishable items to donate to The Food Bank of Iowa. How great is that, you can help out Hungry Iowan’s and save yourself money too! Anyone can donate, you don’t have to sign a lease with us, BUT if you do you will receive the great discount on your application fee. So stop in and see me and let’s fill this bin to the top! Thank you from ALL of us here at Dino’s!

Boo, Blessings, Ho, Ho, Ho

Isn’t it fun to see all the holiday decorations–on a Halloween drive finding ghosts, witches, spiders, and jack-o-lanterns: a Thanksgiving drive seeing Pilgrims, turkeys and pumpkins; and the best is a Christmas drive spotting Santa, sleighs and reindeer, lighted trees, candles, and a manger scene.
After it is over, where do they put all those wonderful decorations for next year? Do they stick them in the basement, or attic, or maybe the garage? Many have found the best solution is to take them to a storage unit. A storage unit means the decorations are safely out of the way but so handy when needed for next year. A unit at one of the Dino’s Storage locations might be just the ticket for your holiday decorations.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND A BLESSED CHRISTMAS.

Here in Papillion I am running an awesome special to help give back to the community. If you bring 15 or more, I will remove the processing fee and take half off of your 2nd months rent! We are trying to replenish the food bank so every little bit helps. If you are not interested in renting a unit and would still like to help you can drop your items off at :

Do you remember your first day?

First and foremost, I would like to take this time to thank everyone at Dino’s for being so kind in welcoming me to the company. I am new to the storage business and it has been an exciting change of pace for me. The dedication and support from co-workers is amazing, which makes my job that much easier. I can say the same about the tenants here at the Cedardale location. They have been nothing less then helpful and welcoming. The people that I have met in my first months with Dino’s are excited about the change and new policies I have been trying to implement, which makes me excited to keep on diving in to help make renting from us easy. I cannot wait to see what is in store for me here in the future!

TEMPERATURE CONTROL / CLIMATE CONTROL / HUMIDITY CONTROL-WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?

The world of public storage is changing; and just as with everything else, you now have multiple choices.  It can be hard to know what you need if you don’t know what it all means. Temperature control and climate control are basically the same thing.  Many people make the mistake of thinking climate control means humidity control;  but they are actually two different things.

Climate controlled storage spaces (also known as “temperature controlled” ) are cooled in the summer and heated in the winter.  Severe hot or cold weather can damage items in storage units over a period of time.  Things like wood furniture, electronics & media, wax, vinyl records, appliances, photos, & paintings tend to warp, crack, split, discolor.  Most climate control facilities maintain a steady temperature of 50-80 degrees.  As a general rule, the temperature in a climate-controlled storage unit should not fall below freezing in the winter or rise above 90 degrees in the summer.  If the temperature in the region you live exceeds 90 degrees in the summer but does not freeze in the winter, air-conditioning would be a viable option to consider.  Same with only extreme cold temperatures – a heated storage unit would work well.  If your area experiences both extreme hot and cold temperatures, climate control is a definite must.

Humidity controlled storage spaces control and reduce humidity.  Moisture and mold are two of the leading causes of damage.  The best way to protect against humidity is to keep the air from going stale. Humidity controlled facilities are equipped with humidifiers that constantly circulate the air and reduce the amount of actual water vapor. Humidity is measured by percent. Between 25% – 45% is dry and 50% – 75% is normal.  Most humidity controlled facilities keep the environment at no less than 40% and no more than 70%. This is the perfect choice of storage environments if you are storing musical instruments, fine furniture, electronics & media, paintings, fabrics, photos, irreplaceable items like precious family heirlooms or memorabilia, business documents and papers.  It is especially important to choose this type of storage facility if you live in an area which has moderate to high humidity levels combined with high and or low temperatures.  This is because the damaging effects of extreme temperatures on your belongings are multiplied when moisture is in the air as well.

Dino’s Storage facilities offer the comfort of climate control with the benefits of humidity control in one space.  So you can rest assured that your valuables are secure in the best storage environment available.
